CSL 09 – A great debut year!
The first annual Careers in Sport + Leisure, held at the Sheffield Arena, has now been and gone and was a huge success. Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March 2009 saw 4500 young people descend on Sheffield for this inaugural event.
exhibitors from all areas of the industry were on hand to offer delegates advice, information and opportunities in order to help them progress in their career. They included CSL’s sponsors, Sheffield Hallam University, SkillsActive and ISPAL as well as The Royal Marines, Active Soccer, Virgin Active, BASES, The FA, Spa and Leisure Jobs, Premier Training, Milkround, Fitness First and Jobswithballs.com.
speaker sessions were held over the two days with speakers including Phil Smith – Director of Sport at Sport England, former Olympian Duncan Goodhew, ex Pro Footballer - Don Goodman, Leigh Hine, a Senior Consultant from Sports Recruitment International, England Rugby International Katy Storie, Simon Dickie from the Amateur Rowing Association and Chris Loxston from EIS who is the Performance Analyst for the Great Britain Olympic and Paralympic Table Tennis teams. The sessions saw experts sharing their experiences and offering advice to students in order to help them progress with speakers generously giving up their time after to answer questions from many interested delegates.
CSL 09 proved to be a great success in its debut year but we know there is more work to do in order to make it an even better success next year.
