About Careers in Sport + Leisure

Created and run in 2009 as the first ever national careers event for the sport and leisure industry, Careers in Sport + Leisure is a truly national careers event that combines the largest sport and leisure career focused exhibition ever seen in the UK with unrivalled access to the industry's best speakers, in relaxed, open air theatres that require no booking therefore making them accessible to all.

The event is about providing 5000 proactive, driven young people with the best possible information, support and expertise to help in their decision making when it comes to their future careers and our exhibitors and sponsors with access to these young people - essentially the next generation of decision makers in the industry!

CSL 2010 will take place at a new venue, the centrally located International Centre in Telford, allowing the event to grow in size and stature. It will run in November, early in the academic year, therefore allowing all students to make full use of the information that they receive when making decisions about their future.

The background to Careers in Sport + Leisure

It is estimated that in the summer of 2010, 75,000 graduates will leave university with a qualification related to the sport and leisure industry. In addition to these graduates, there are tens of thousands more young people taking sport and leisure related training and qualifications in the FE sector and many more looking to work in the sector that need advice, support and greater understanding.

At any one time there are approximately 650,000 people employed in sport and leisure related jobs – but at the same time there is a distinct lack of information on the opportunities that exist across the entire breadth of the sector.

Careers in Sport + Leisure aims to fill this information gap and give direct access to key individuals and organisations within the sector, assisting all those who aspire to work in sport and leisure. Any organisation that targets young people in the sport and leisure sector can do so at the biggest event of its kind ever held in the UK.

The estimated 5,000 people attending CSL 2010 will be those looking to work in the sector and learn more about the opportunities that exist within sport and leisure.

Careers in Sport + Leisure is run by 110% who created and ran the first ever event in 2009. For more information on 110% click HERE.

MY CSL STORY

Kate's Story

I’m only in my first year at university but all I hear is that there are so many people unemployed these days. I know it will be a while before I have to think about applying for proper job but I want to give myself the best chance of getting one and one that I actually want too.

I heard about Careers in Sport and Leisure, I’ll be going because I want to hear what everyone has to say. I absolutely love sport and have played tennis, hockey and football since I was at primary school. I have also been doing a bit of part time work in the summer helping out the county tennis team’s analyst and have really enjoyed that.

I know that I want to work in sport but want to find out how to make myself stand out from the rest and also about all the other opportunities available.
